Why just men?  Several reasons. . .

There are several really good professional photographers in our area that shoot kids, families, senior portraits, glamor and other shots. I know some of them personally and respect their work and talents. It is not my goal to compete with them. They do this for a living and are much better that I will ever hope to be. I just do it for fun because I enjoy it.

I find that, to become really good at something you really need to focus your efforts in one specialized area. I have chosen to put what little time I can devote, into this one subject: portraits of men. They are sons and fathers, husbands and friends. Throughout my quest to capture images, I hope to gain a deeper insight in to the relationships they have with each other , their manhood and with God. I want to be able to express visually, a greater understanding of how God, our heavenly Father expresses His love and care toward us as we put our trust in Him.

Visually I truly believe the human male form is also one of the most beautiful handiworks that God has created. I seek to try to capture a part of His creation in my work. The male form exhibits a variety of shapes, line and textures. The muscular system when toned and stressed, form beautiful shapes and forms that are not normally visible in the female image. A man's skin tends to present a variety of textures, some rugged as the earth, some smooth as glass.

I've found that I have made some wonderful friendships with the men I have photographed from the local area and from around the world. That is worth it all.
